Agility FUNdamentals

Whether you have your eyes set on future competitions in this sport, or you simply are looking to deepen your relationship with your companion dog, you are certain to learn a lot in this course.

The program focuses on the development of some of the core components of agility (e.g., handler focus, obstacle performance, body awareness and self control) through the teaching of tricks and games.

We help you develop a rhythm to your training that focuses on both fun and the progression of skills. The curriculum includes fun fast recalls, turns, body awareness and strengthening tricks, focused self control, hoops, tunnels, table and more.

The course is suitable for dogs of all ages.

Novice Agility

So you’ve been bitten by the agility bug...

For people who are interested in training their dog to perform more agility equipment. In this course we build on the skills that we started in the FUNdamentals program. We continue to build skills in the core areas of handler focus, body awareness and self control but the bulk of class time is dedicated to working on training confident and independent performance of the obstacles found on an agility course. To complement the obstacles, time will also be spent on turns, crosses, recalls, stays, sends and directionals.

Typically it takes a few cycles through this class before dogs have proficiency with all of the agility obstacles. Additionally, we focus on developing your skills as a trainer and support you to track your dog’s progress and to make and meet training goals for you and your dog.

Weaving Workshop Series

check back spring 2018

The location will change throughout the session and will be announced to participants once classes begin.

This intensive seminar series has a proven track record of helping dogs get a solid start on the weaves using Susan Garrett's 2x2 method. Generally each dog gets 3 four or five minute turns per session to work through weave progressions. Each session is 1.5 hours long except the first night which is only 1 hour long.  It is recommended that the dogs are crated between turns.  If crating between turns isn't a possibility, dogs will need to be leashed and away from the working area when it isn't their turn. You will be encouraged to take detailed notes of your training to support faster advancement through the program. We will meet 2-3 times per week for about 4 weeks to complete the 10 session program.

Weeknight sessions are between 6:00-9:00pm and weekend sessions are between 10:30am-1:30pm. A tighter window will be assigned once we have finalized the dogs participating in the class.

**Please note - Weaves are by far the hardest agility obstacle for most dogs to physically navigate, if your dog has any history of chronic lameness or injury to the neck, shoulders or forelegs an "OK" to participate from your vet is recommended prior to registering.
